Blog 2: Grey Owl vs. James Frey

Based on my research, I would say that Grey Owl is the bigger liar when it comes to telling lies in their life writings. I would say Grey Owl is a bigger liar than James Frey because of the duration his lies lasted. Although James Frey told lies in his book 'A Million Little Pieces', he was exposed a couple of years later. On the other hand, Grey Owl was exposed after his death. He lived his whole life with the lie that he was a full blooded Native Indian, when in fact he was an Englishman.

I also believe that Grey Owl is the bigger liar because when he was exposed, his books were withdrawn from publication. This had an effect on the conservation causes with which Grey OWl had been associated. This in turn affected donations to conservationist causes badly. Not only did Grey Owl's life-long lie affect his identity after he died, but it also affected organizations which needed the funding provided by the sale of his books. Although everyone may tell a little lie sometimes, the lies become very problematic when they start to have a negative effect on other people.
